All Smiles

I have had the BEST day and a half.
Astrid arrived yesterday, and so far she is working fabulously. I'm posting from her right now. All the online updates are done. I have not yet loaded Office, but that's next on my to-do list. She's so sleek and quick and willing to do whatever I ask. I'm very happy.
I've decided to keep the name, even though at first I thought it might not fit. Found out that "Astrid," not being derived from Latin at all (duh) does NOT mean star, but it's actual meaning is fine with me too. I set a wallpaper of stars up anyway, and it's completely awesome (though I wonder when someone will wisecrack "OMG, it's full of stars").
Last night instead of setting Astrid up and playing with settings, Pres Man and I went to a football game. I've posted on and off about how I miss the small-town atmosphere at ball games and he was listening. We went to one of the schools where he teaches high schoolers a college-credit course, so we got in for free because he's faculty! It was so much fun. We saw a few folks he knew and my Economics teacher was there too, but he didn't hear us hollering at him (or maybe he did and pretended not to!). The whole experience was so great and I was really into the game. They had a good cheering squad, a great band, a dance team who were almost painfully sparkly (but it was awesome anyway), and the stands were pretty full. It was everything I have missed about my home town and it really satisfied some deep need that I had. I am excited about the possibility of going to future games.
THEN I stayed up too late messing with Astrid's updates, which meant I slept really late today and did not go on a zoo walk. Hopefully we will get to do that tomorrow.
Tonight we'll have the weekly game and that will be fun. I have missed it even though I only had to skip one week. I am also planning to work on the Monster Stocking during the game, which means I need to turn the rest of that heel before then so I can get back to the mindless stockinette part.
Mom loves her new computer, which makes me really happy. She is spending more time online and less time in front of her TV, which I consider an improvement. More interaction is good. She was talking about maybe getting on Facebook, which I think could be really interesting for her. She craves debate, especially about politics. Too bad she's not a gamer or I could recommend Paizo's site. :)
Anyway, today is a beautiful day (we might get a storm later) and I'm in a great mood and everything is wonderful. Hmmm, makes me wonder if my "happy" hormones are working overtime. Whatever the reason, I'll take it!
