Most of you know or can probably guess that we don't cook at home much. Even when we EAT at home, often it is not something either of us cooked.

We go through phases where we try to do better at cooking at home. It's cheaper, it's better for you, and it makes keeping all those danged pots and pans more logical (I mean, think of all the storage space we could free up without those things!). I am mostly kidding about that. Mostly.

Anyway, I am going through a phase now where I want to cook at home more. So I got a new toy. It is a Bean Pot, from Celebrating Home. I have mentioned before that I was getting a magical pot. I made fun of it.

I was so wrong. It IS a magical pot.

Tonight I thought "I am going to make supper from only things that are already in the house. What did I find?

Tater Tots
Cream of Celery Soup
Frozen Hamburger Patties
Bag of Frozen Green, Red, and Yellow Peppers (with Onions too)
Milk

I dumped this stuff in the bean pot, didn't thaw anything. Cooked it on high for 9 minutes, broke stuff up, cooked another nine minutes, stirred again, and cooked another few minutes (not sure on that one - maybe another nine for good measure).

It is a delicious casserole and it didn't take half an hour from start to finish. Frozen meat. Frozen veggies. Frozen potatoes. And now it's food.

I'm so excited.
