Today I worked on baseboards. It is not a really physically demanding job, but it does take a while. I did the parts around the doorways in the kitchen and then started my way around the living room. The kitchen pieces took longer than half of the living room did. I probably could have finished, but then Pres Man arrived with a load of stuff and I watched him briggle with it in the game room for too long. Then we went to grab showers, get some food, and return for the game.
Yes, we did have the game at the new house! It was fine, even though it's going to be hard for Koganei not to cack his head on the low ceiling (there is a vent running the length of the house and it is enclosed in "ceiling" stuff, so part of the ceiling is low). That will probably also be a problem for Quix.
I nearly got my character killed, but she ended up not dying. Fletch saved the day by finishing off the Summoning Monolith so the creature that was trying to ingest me disappeared.
We took the gamers on a tour of the house and they were all very careful to be nice about it, which was so good for me. I am pretty defensive about the house.
12Stargazers offered to be my landscaping advisor, which is awesome. Siliver Dragon offered the use of her steam mop thingy, which might be really handy on the lower floor.
We took a lot of stuff over today. I think all the stuff I had boxed up is over there now. We still have a lot of Star Wars stuff that could go, and I think it would be good to get the implements over there and into the shed.
The locks have been changed, so no one but he and I have keys. That's awesome. Tomorrow I am going to try to finish the main floor baseboards so that we can start moving stuff in against the walls, and then I am going to start papering the shelves and drawers in the kitchen. I am even contemplating skipping the Lost finale in favor of working on the house. I really want to get it clean enough to where I feel comfortable bringing "big" stuff over.
We have changed half the fire alarms' batteries (and found one alarm that would not work, so we tossed it). I am hoping these are not the kind that are so sensitive that they go off when you take too steamy of a shower.
We met our mailman today. He came right up and introduced himself and seemed like a very nice guy. Our first piece of mail was the paperwork that we need to get the first time homebuyers' tax credit. I will get that filled out and sent in this week. It will take a long time to get it back, so best to start early.
Pie says we smell funny when we come back from the house. He's stressing over the big "box moving" events of the past few days, but he allows me to reassure him with lots of pats and snuggles. His purr still works and he still gets paw-squeezy, so things are not that bad.
Also, I think he found the rogue bug! He is a pointer when it comes to bugs, not a hunter. He told me where it was and Pres Man terminated it with extreme prejudice. YAY.
The house is feeling more and more like home. Having the game over there was awesome. Afterward, we all went out to Applebee's for their appetizer special. That was fun too. Though I am boring, because all I have to talk about it the house. Kind of like here. House house house.
I'm going to try to sleep now.
