Today is still going swimmingly. The laundry is moving right along (it is not as humid as it normally is in Manhappiness so things are drying more quickly, yay!) and I even worked a little bit in the garage. I am taking it a little easy due to Friday's whatever-it-was, but so far so good.

I forgot to mention that Quix came by last night with a plethora of boxes (Thank You!), and he stuck around to shoot the breeze with us and the rest of the gamer crew. It's been a LONG time since last we saw him, so it was nice to catch up. He seems full of energy now and it's been a long time since I've seen him like that.

Pres man and I might end up with enough junk to have our own garage sale; we are making an area in the garage to collect such things. I don't know when we'd have it, but the Garage Sale Gods are smiling on me because today while sorting through stuff I found a packet of garage sale price stickers. LOL What the heck, maybe it won't be as bad as I think to have a sale.

I mean, I have had one of my own and I have worked tons of them for my family and I usually like them just fine, it's just the preparation. Getting everything tagged or making signs for certain categories to save time tagging (but then you need the master list so you know what everything should be) and getting up EARLY in the morning to set it all out and catch the insane early morning shoppers...Those are the parts I dislike. But sitting there waiting for people to buy stuff? Easy peasy. Especially with Astrid to keep me entertained.

I'm trying to figure out what I should wear to the Con this year. I think I will wear Sanchez (my shoulder dragon) but I do not know what else my outfit will consist of. I have a kickass sorceress costume thanks to my former Potterverse obsession, but I think that'd be pretty warm to wear all day long. Plus that dress tends to hold wrinkles and I'll be sitting a lot, which would definitely wrinkle it. And then there is my Viking helmet, but I don't know if it would be good to wear all day and I'm not big on having helmet hair for the latter half of the Con if I end up having to take it off. Plus a Viking helmet and Sanchez might look a little too "How to Train Your Dragon."

We shall see. I'm sure something will occur to me. I may just go the geeky t-shirt route along with Sanchez and call it good.

...what's wrong with going "How To Train Your Dragon?"

For one thing, I haven't seen it, so I don't want to look like I'm imitating it and then have people who have seen it try to make references that I won't get and then have them be disappointed when I can't play along.

But mainly it's that this is a D&D (and other rpgs) convention; it's not the kind where people randomly show up as a character from Such & Such like other bigger Cons. The only costumes we've had in the past were the Legend of the Five Rings players who came in their kimono (and I think there was one belly dancer, though that was years ago before I was on staff), and that was because we were holding a costume contest and also there was a little skit to be acted out as part of the ongoing L5R story so some of the costumed folks got to take part in that.

I was thinking I'd do something D&Dish without going the chainmail bikini route just to be more in the spirit of things, but really I think any suitable costume that I currently own is going to be too hot to be comfy for a 16 hour day, parts of which will involve lots of lifting and packing/unpacking. If we had a spare registration person, I'd maybe try to wear civvies for the work bit and then change, but we're shorthanded this year so I'm going to be glued to Registration pretty much from open to close.

Maybe next year I can work up a fantasy type costume that would work for TengaiCon. I need to think of it sooner than a week prior!
