Apr. 2nd, 2011 10:56 pmI had a fantastic day! Which is not usually something I can say about a day where I got up at 5:30 a.m., but today was a lot of fun.
Pres Man and I judged at a Forensics Meet. We each got to judge to preliminary rounds and then we each judged a final too. I got to judge Serious Solos, Oration, and Informative Speech. I saw some really good performances. I got to see our niece a few times too (the meet was at her school and we were there at her request) which was nice.
Like I said, it was a really early morning, but we made it there early (go us!) and got checked in right away. It was a good thing we both went; they seemed to have some trouble with judges leaving early and not realizing they were supposed to stay and judge other rounds. I'm so proud of my niece; she brought THREE judges. Forensics judges can be hard to come by. Especially judges who have actually done speech and drama (Pres Man and I both did in high school).
After we were finished there, we hunted down the niece to say good-bye and then we went to the Japanese steak house for linner. It was sooOOooo delicious. It was just us and another couple with a little girl. She was adorable and she loved the performance. She was enchanted with the little umbrella that came in her drink and she was really brave about trying new foods.
We went shopping on the way home. We hit a couple of toy stores and I got two toy guns to mod for steampunk accessories. One is the same Nerf gun that everyone modifies, but I Don't Care. And the other is a watergun that looks pretty cool. I think I can make it look neat. Pres Man got some figurines for use in the game.
We are also now the proud owners of Ice Pirates on DVD, thanks to a bargain DVD bin. LOL
Pres Man took a nap when we got home, but I was still too wound up. I talked to my mother and then my sister called, so that was nice. I brushed the cat a bit but he doesn't seem to have built up a bunch of shedding again yet.
It got really warm today so our house is on the warm side. Luckily I am so spoiled that I have a remote controlled fan i nthe living room. Ahhhh, technology.
Maybe tomorrow we can walk at the zoo.
Oh, I also got a lot of knitting done during my non-judging round. I made one mistake (that I'm aware of) and I am NOT fixing it. I twisted the wrong direction but I'm hoping it won't be that noticeable to non-knitters. I think I'm nearly to the thumb gussett now!
All in all it was an awesome day. The new car performed nicely and it was a lovely day to get out and about.
