First Trip To This Chiropracter
Oct. 26th, 2010 05:42 pmWell, the first real trip, anyway.
I got presents. I got my very own ice pack, I got a binder full of stuff (instructions on what to do at home, future appointments, a printout of my tricorder reading...), and I will be getting a neck stretcher thingy. But I can't have that until I've gone in for a few more weeks.
The adjustment itself was okay. I did not like the lower back/hip area adjustment, because he uses a table that collapses under you. I find that terribly uncomfortable because I tense up in preparation for "falling." But the upper back and neck was really fine. He did that "normally." At least, normal for what I am used to.
My x-rays were sad. He showed me an x-ray of a "good" neck, and then he showed me my x-ray. My neck is beginning to curve wrong. No wonder my shoulders are so stiff and I cannot turn my head as easily as I used to be able to.
The lower back x-ray was kind of cool though. He put it up and I was like "HEY MY HIPS ARE NOT EVEN!" which was exactly correct. So this is why my legs were not the same length, or why they weren't. They are now, though they will probably be uneven again when I go back, because I can already feel my body trying to pull back to the way it was.
I also got to get "stimulated" with the tingly electrodes that they put on my neck and upper back, I got to stretch my neck on the pump neck-stretcher thingy, and I got to stand on a platform that wobbles underneath your feet really fast. They said it did all sorts of things that it could not possibly do, but what I think it does it make you work on your balancing muscles, which are what help hold you in the correct position.
I felt really weird when I got out of there. Really kind of out-of-body. And then I got into my car and OUCH my left hip (not the problem hip) muscles were like OMG BE MORE CAREFUL WITH US. I have no idea what that was about, because they do not hurt now. And then my left shoulder popped with a humongous sound and I kind of expected my arm to fall off. But now it's all good.
I have taken two ibuprofen and I'm on my first big mug of water (well, after the two I drank already today). I also had a small chocolate bar, because that's what Remus Lupin would tell me to do and he seems to know his stuff...
My ice pack should be cold in about an hour and then I'm supposed to start icing my neck and lower back. I think I will do some fusing and cutting before then.
I want to be a good patient, really, but I also want to get this costume stuff done. Is it cheating if you put the ice on your neck while you're sewing? Probably. lol
