I FOUND A HAT

I found a hat. And it may be a perfect hat. Not perfect right now, but it will be. And you know what? Out of the tons (TONS) of pirate hats that the costume store had, this was the ONLY hat exactly like this. So my false urgency about doing it tonight wasn't that far off at all.

I went to the mall afterwards to see if I had made a huge mistake by jumping on this hat, but I didn't. They didn't have ANY adult black tricorns (or black ANYTHING in pirate hats). They had lots of Jack Sparrow hats (complete with hair hanging off), but that's sooo not what I'm looking for.

This hat has gold braid on it and red ribbons, which will have to come off, but I think it will be reasonably easy. The brim has a firm wire in it that you can use to pose the hat. Some hats had snaps to hold the brim up or even velcro! *shudder* This is much better.

Next post will have pictures of the hat and the stuff I got at the thrift store.

In June 1915, Walter Kirke, deputy head of military intelligence at GHQ France, wrote in his diary that Mansfield Cumming, the first chief (or C) of the SIS was "making enquiries for invisible inks at the London University".

In October he noted that he "heard from C that the best invisible ink is semen", which did not react to the main methods of detection. Furthermore it had the advantage of being readily available.
