Per my BIL, my sister has been is in labor since 6 a.m. (CST). She was 100% effaced and 6cm dialated at 8:30 or so this morning.

I want to be asleep but I cannot be.

I woke up at 4 a.m. thinking for sure that something had happened. I checked my phone, I checked online, found nothing. But I am wondering now if they started her pitocyn then. When I woke up, I had just had a very realistic dream of my BIL calling people and announcing that they had a boy.

Hurry up Sis. I love you a lot, but I want to be sleeping.

Non-people pictures of the shower

Since I'm a bundle of nerves, have some pictures of the emergency baby shower that we threw for my sister.

This is the diaper cake that mom and her housekeeper's girls made. It came out really cute. The round toys on it go with a basketball kind of game and the monkey on top is a bath mitt. There is a matching towel concealed in the cake.



Mom put a baby diaper on my sister's baby lion from home.



These are the pages I made for gifts and guests. They match the binder that Mom got for my sister.



This is a combination stuffed animal and baby blanket. They wouldn't tell me the gender so I had to settle for Baby xxxxx instead of the actual name.



Here are the goodie bags for guests. We actually made a ton of these because we were originally planning for about 20 people. We gave some to my sister's boss, who showed up as a surprise. They were for his three kids. The bags each have an animal mask, an animal head with candy inside, some buttermints in baby wrappers, a matchbook with an altoid type mint and the cover says "Thanks for sharing in our excitemint" or "It mint a lot that you could be here" or things like that, animal themed pencils, animal print fans, and for the later bags we included a sheet of the baby word scramble game. It turned out to be pretty hard! We had a good time trying to beat each other figuring out the one word that stumped us all. It was epidural.



Here's one of the animal print fans. We had leopard, zebra, and tiger. I also got some plain green fans to kind of mimic palm leaf fans.



We got a tabletop palm tree and a hanging palm tree. My sister loved them so much that we had to put them in her room later. And she made the nurses move them to her new room when she got transferred!



Here's what the table looked like when she was wheeled into the room. Her face was priceless.

And I was right. It is a boy.

He is healthy. Born 07/31/10 at 9:40am, 4 lbs 1 oz, 17.5 inches long.
