Hooray Us!
Jun. 29th, 2010 09:00 pmTonight we worked on the gutters! I had expected to maybe get a quarter of the way done, but we dug out the entire back of the house! I am amazed at our perseverance and at our good attitudes. Mosquitoes? No problem, we got out the Off! Gutter full of ants? I did not even flinch! No one fell, no one even had a bad moment that I recall. I am so pleased with us!
We did not run water through them yet, as it is starting to get dark now. But I think that will be the easy part compared to what we did tonight. Now we just have to do the front gutter, wash it all out, and we'll be finished!
It's really nice here tonight, not really cool, but shady enough in our area that it didn't feel so hot. Our ladder worked great, too. I am very pleased with that purchase.
I fixed our shed doors too. The top sliders had come out of their tracks, and when I found that they could not be simply popped back in, I unscrewed them, forced them through a place where I could bend the metal of the track out a bit, and then screwed them back onto the doors. Now our doors close all the way and slide a bit better. Go me! Handy Ma'am!
Oh! Also, IHOP is having a Tuesdays thing where at the end of your meal the manager will flip a coin and if you call it correctly your meal is free! AND I CALLED HEADS AND IT WAS HEADS! Over $20 of food, free! We left a nice tip for that boy.
Pie is intensely scrutinizing our shoes now. "OMG, is that what our backyard smells like? HOLY CRAP THAT'S COOL!" Or maybe scary, since the dog used to live out there. I don't know. He's fascinated though.
I'm so proud of myself for braving my fear of falling and getting up there! We took turns on the ladder and I think that helped it go faster. You should see the bag of junk we got out of that gutter! Nasty. And very heavy too, even though it was not that wet anymore. I am glad it is gone.
For those of you who are worriers (like me) let me reassure you that despite the house in my icon, our house is one story and that story is not all that tall. We were not really that far above the ground and we made sure to communicate well and hold the ladder firmly and stuff.
It has been a very good evening!
