Today I have a day off. Which is kind of funny, because I have already worked harder physically than I do most days at my lovely desk job, so "day off" is not completely accurate.

I've been organizing and straightening and throwing out junk (we filled our little dumpster-thingy; it is a good thing today is trash day!) and the coffee table is looking much better, as are the end tables. I swear, any horizontal surface in this house is a magnet for junk.

I started the Bamboozled headband last night and plan to continue working on it today. I'm pleased to report that the re-typed chart has made a big difference and I am about a quarter done already.

I also think we'll go see a very early showing of Avatar, because matinée prices cancel out the extra 3D charge.

Out of my list of 16 things to do, I have done 6 so far. But I also did a bunch of other things that kind of sprang up and got in my way, so that's good too.

I'm so proud of myself for waking up early (and actually GETTING up) and jumping into action. Now I've had some breakfast and I'm taking a well-deserved break. I kind of want a nap too. Seriously, I did a LOT of running up and down our stairs whilst hauling crap, and that will take its toll on you.

Things I will be doing with the remainder of my day:

Recycle plastic bags at Dillons
Move musical instruments into downstairs closet
Relocate our steamer (where, though? Probably laundry landing)
Go through two boxes of stuff brought back from Mom's and find homes for everything
Mail stuff

We're also supposed to have a visit from the landlord's maintenance guy sometime today. I really want to be here when he arrives, but Murphy's Law says that won't happen, so I think I might make a note and tape it up right next to the thermostat so he understands the problem. I do not have a ton of faith the chain of communication because I have played too many games of telephone/gossip. You know, the one where you whisper to the next person in line and at the end the final person has to say out loud whatever they were told? One time at Youth Group, we had to play that game and I was the last person and I do not know WHAT they were smoking in my line, but what I got told was "Jesus Christ is a Son of a Gun." Now, honestly. You're AT CHURCH. How hard would it be to guess correctly what the person was telling you? "Jesus Christ is the Son of God" should have been a gimme. But in the spirit of the game I went ahead and said out loud what I'd been told. We kids had a good laugh and our adult sponsors were a little mortified and after that we didn't have to play "gossip" any more. :)
