Mar. 31st, 2009 02:51 pmGuess what! I'm doing something other than working on a knitting font! Astonishing, isn't it?
I have today off, because I have an awesome job that way. There are so many things that I take for granted there and I really shouldn't. Flex time, lots of vacation days, it's pretty easy to get time off....I'm very spoiled.
I'm studying for my Philosophy test tonight. We're covering Aristotle, Epicurus, Descartes, Bacon, Kant, St. Aquinas, St. Anselm, St. Augustine, Stoicism, Skepticism, determinism, existentialism, lots of other "isms," and there's one long essay question on the movie I Heart Huckabees.
I'm not answering that one.
It's all good; we get three choices for our long essay on this test and we only have to do one. I'm going to do one that isn't about Huckabees. That movie will not stick in my brain. I don't know why. I love Lily Tomlin, Dustin Hoffman, and Jason Schwartzman, but the movie itself just slides right out of my head as soon as I've seen it.
I will instead do Bacon's Idols, Aquinas's causal proofs of God's existence, or I will discuss Epicureanism, Stoicism, and Skepticism. Probably I will do the Idols if it's on there.
I'm going to go early to eat mexican food with Pres Man at the really good restaurant over there. I told him he can quiz me over dinner. He sounded less than enthusiastic about the prospect ("That sounds like a fun dinner date....") but I know he was kidding. He wants me to do well. How do I know? He's called twice today to check on me. :)
Today has been a really good day. I really needed the sleep I got last night (and this morning; I slept WAY in). I think that helped a lot.
It's very windy here today, which is bothering Piewacket and distracting me a bit. I do not like really strong winds, mostly because it means my head is going to suffer from the weather. The parts about getting dirt in your eyes and having your hair completely messed up are not that much fun either.
I'm more than halfway through this class and I'm SO GLAD. It's interesting, but not really my thing. I'm also getting a little worried that I won't get enough volunteer hours in at the MAC. I emailed Penny again today asking what I could do. I might have to find somewhere else to fill in the remaining hours. Too bad TengaiCon is not non-profit.
